IAN SCHULTZ’S 2024 IN FILM – FROM BEST TO WORST

I have to say 2024 had some real cinematic highs but lots of lows and just plain old mediocrity. Plenty I haven’t seen mainly because I couldn’t be bothered or they aren’t out yet. I haven’t seen Babygirl, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, The Last Showgirl, Nosferatu, Oh, Canada, September 5 so those will be on my 2025 list. The top 4 are the only films I gave 5 stars to this year and I’m fairly generous with my star ratings which says a lot. 2025 looks pretty promising and maybe that new Terry Gilliam film will go into production that would be nice. * indicates I saw in the theatre
